There are plenty of ways to get to the airport, especially if you live in a major city.

Taxi cabs are usually pretty popular. Trains in most major cities have regular airport stops as well. Additional ways to get transportation to the airport can include waiting at a bus stop, calling and trying to convince friends or family to do it, or scheduling a transportation firm to send a limousine to transport you.

In this article, our aim is to break down the major modes of transportation and take a good look at the pros and cons of each.

Taxi cabs are convenient because they can be called at the last minute. The downside is that trunk space can be limited, and they can arrive late depending on when you have called them. In addition, they are typically not the most comfortable cars in the world as they service dozens and dozens of people each day and have a considerable amount of wear and tear.

Riding the train to the airport is generally a solid mode of transportation. They typically run on a set schedule, so it can make getting to the airport on time pretty convenient. There are however, many, many downsides to riding the train. Imagine having to carry two 70 pound bags while you run across a platform trying not to miss your connecting train. Also, having to haul all those bags from the trains station through the airport to your terminal will usually slow you down.)

Driving your own car may give you the leisure of leaving on time and have adequate luggage space, but now you have to worry about driving, navigating traffic, and figuring out where to park your car for the duration of your departure. In some airports, it could cost you several hundred dollars per week, not too mention you would have to carry all of your luggage from the parking garage.

The idea of simply getting a friend to pick you up and drop you off usually sounds like a good idea at first. The problem is that if they get busy, need to cancel, get stuck in traffic, have car problems, or a variety of other common obstacles, you could end up missing your flight.

A Transportation firm can arrange to have a limousine or Town Car waiting in front of your house at any time, and have you dropped off in front of your airline stop two hours ahead of departure without much hassle at all. In all reality, because most transportation services offer free open bar in their limousines, you can kick you feet up, enjoy a martini, and read the newspaper or watch the television while your chauffeur loads your luggage into the trunk of the car.

Although it can cost a little bit more than a cab, it ensures a comfortable ride, one that is early, and erases the stress of transporting yourself, finding parking, or missing your stop on a train.
